I am Professor of Planting Design, Urban Horticulture and Vegetation Technology in the Department of Landscape, University of Sheffield. My work revolves around the integration of ecology, landscape design, and horticulture to achieve dynamic, diverse, ecologically-tuned designed landscapes, at small and large scale

Creating Extraordinary Planting through research and practice.

Planting Design as an Art Form: tuned to Nature.  Applying ecological concepts to the principles of planting design, to create dynamic, dramatic and emotionally-uplifting landscapes.

Planting Design as an Esssential: creating Healthy Cities and Liveable Places.  Finding every opportunity to introduce exciting planting, vegetation and nature into cities, to meet the challenges of climate-change and urbanisation.

Featured here are full profiles of projects that apply the planting design principles that I have developed through research and practice.  For each project there is an overview page, and further links to technical details and extensive photo galleries that track the development and change over time of each of the featured projects.
